Martin Tilson is Chairman of the Southeast Investor Group that connects growth company investors with promising companies.
The Southeast Group meets monthly in Atlanta, Georgia at the Capital City Club, Brookhaven. It was established in 1995 to provide assistance to emerging technology companies by providing access to early stage investment capital and mentoring. The group’s membership consists of super angel investors, corporate venture investors, private investors and partners of venture capital funds. Its 45-plus members reside in eight Southeast states and have a variety of expertise in technology industries.
The group meets for dinner on the first Tuesday of the month, February through July and September through December. At these meetings, the group sees presentations from 2-3 pre-screened companies, sponsored by members. Most of the presenting companies are located in the metropolitan Atlanta area, but presenting companies also come from throughout the Southeast.
There is also a forum where Members can discuss any other matters that may be beneficial to the group. Members are asked to submit at least two companies to the Screening Committee for consideration each year and to have the ability to invest individually (or through a Fund) at least $250,000 per transaction. Each investor invests on his/her own. (There is no pool). Approximately one-third of the companies that have presented since 1995 have received capital investments from relationships within the group.
The members value the meetings not just for the opportunity to see pre-screened growth technology companies, but also for the opportunity to network with their peers in a congenial environment.
The Southeast Investor Group does not operate a website, and member privacy is a fundamental rule. Inquiries from potential company candidates should come to Martin Tilson.
